How we read your address

The address you enter is matched against Toronto's official address registry (525,000+ points). The matched coordinates anchor every spatial query in the report. All distances are calculated from this point using haversine (straight-line) geometry.

Two classes of data

Every data source in a Perimtr report belongs to one of two classes. Understanding the difference matters for how you interpret what you read.

Class 1

Point events · radius-scoped

Things that happened at a specific lat/lng. Counted within the 1000m circle around your address.

Crime incidents · Fire incidents
Building permits · 311 service requests
Front-yard parking · Cycling infrastructure
Street trees · Proximity POIs

Class 2

Administrative stats · neighbourhood-scoped

Published at a boundary level. Attributed to the primary neighbourhood — the one with the largest share of your 1000m circle.

Population · Population density
Median household income · Renter share
311 ward totals · School data
Census 2021 (Statistics Canada)

Class 2 data is never area-weighted across your circle. If you cross-check our Census numbers against the City of Toronto's Neighbourhood Profile, you will see the same figures.

Active data sources · 14 total
